Oriental inspired money box

Good morning, thought I would share something I completed a couple of weeks ago.

I first made a the MDF money box and then painted it with black gesso. Then I embossed some black matte card and rubbed over some gold gilding wax to highlight the raised parts.  I used Sheena's 'little bit of oriental' embossing folders (lanterns and birds/cherry blossom).  I then cut out to size to fit the sides that have the apex for the roof. This was a little tricky as I should have done this before I glued the roof on, but hey ho, it is all part of the learning process.  I must remember to draw round each part in card and then I can use these as templates for the future.
On the other sides, I stamped, using Sheena's 'little bit of oriental' birds on branch and lantern stamps, and used fine detail gold embossing powder.  Again this would have been easier to do without the lid glued on!

I also stamped some of the lantern stamps separately.  I coloured them in using a selection of pro-markers and then used some glossy accents to glaze them.  I glued these on the embossed lantern side to give it a sense of perspective.

Finally I used my brilliant Cameo Silhouette to cut out the roof tiles and glued them onto the roof.  Then I rubbed a bit more gilding wax over, just to highlight the edges.

Just need to buy some stoppers for the base and it is all complete.  I've done a couple of other money boxes too, but I'll save my 'show and tell' for another day!

Hope you have enjoyed seeing my creation.  I'll try and post something more tomorrow .... school work pending! Enjoy your weekend and happy crafting.
